Obituaries

On October 28, 2022, Adrian Paul Smith, age 69,  embarked on his final fishing trip to the banks of Heaven’s lakes, where the weather is always perfect and the fish are always biting.

Adrian was born on September 23, 1953,  to the late Paul and Ruth Ann (Tharp) Smith in Allegheny County, PA. He was the youngest of three siblings, playing baby brother to his late brother Jimmy and sister Saundra, who survives at her home in Lemont Furnace.

Mr. Smith moved to Auburn after earning a business degree and purchasing the family farm. While running Smith Grocery in Coxs Mills, he also made his career at Flying W Plastics as a purchasing agent until his retirement. After leaving the workforce, Adrian spent his time selling odds and ends on eBay, fishing every nook and cranny of our local lakes and watching James Bond movies. 

Carrying on the Smith name is his only son, Jason, who survives at his home in Glenville. Jason and his wife, Brandy, promoted Adrian to his favorite role- grandpa. His granddaughters, Maci and Enslee, loved getting to have slumber parties at Papa’s where they watched old cartoons, like Tom and Jerry, and learned to play dominoes among other mischief only grandpa’s allow. 

In addition to his sister, Adrian is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and a multitude of nieces and great nieces and nephews.

Joining his parents and brother with open arms at the pearly gates is his grandson, Wiatt, and niece, Melody, and nephew, Seth. 

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 11:00 AM; Thursday, November 3, 2022 with Pastor Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Auburn Community Cemetery in Auburn, WV. Friends will be received from 5:00 – 7:00 PM; Wednesday evening at the mortuary in Glenville.
