Clinton Cole “Brown” Howes, 59 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 3, 2025 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born March 5, 1966 in Weston, WV; son of the late Ora Howes and Odell Cottrill.
Clinton was a laborer and service rig operator in the oil and gas industry for most of his working life. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the quiet life in Gilmer County.
On May 11, 2001 Clinton was United in marriage to Robin (Hakes) Howes, who survives at their home in Glenville.
Surviving are 2 sons, Dustin Howes (Kayla) of Glenville, Brian Howes of Glenville, step-daughter, Jessica Cana and companion Paul O’Keefe of Keansburg, NJ; a loving granddaughter, Mallory Howes, and 5 siblings, Betty Cottrill (Calvin) of Glenville, Carol Bollinger of Burnsville, Hazel Cayton (Robert) Glenville, Mary Dennison of Glenville, and Johnny Howes of Glenville.
Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents, Clinton is preceded in death by Shirley and Maggie Howes.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Wednesday, April 9, 2025 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Cottrill Family and Friends Cemetery on Sliding Run Road near Stouts Mills. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Wednesday at the mortuary in Glenville.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department in honor of Brown.
