Obituaries

Karen Joyce Stephens, 66 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Sunday, June 22, 2025 at the Glenville Center Nursing Facility in Glenville, following an extended illness.

She was born July 2, 1958 in Madison, WV; daughter of the late Aubrey and Dorothy (Allison) Mounts.

Karen is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1976. She worked as a sale rep/supervisor for Comcast/Xfinity with over 15 years’ experience. In her spare time, Karen enjoyed watching westerns on TV, going to the beach, spending time with family and friends, and she was a Christian by faith.

On August 14, 2015 Karen was united in marriage to Lloyd G. “Buck” Stephens, who preceded her in death on March 11, 2016.

Surviving are her children, Marsha Wine (Chad), Copen, WV; Melody Davis (Troy), Waynesboro, VA; Danielle Hamric (Andy), Normantown, WV; and Quentin Cain, of Glenville, and 5 grandchildren, Jakob and Josh Gragg, Hannah Turner, Gage Wine, and Hayden Hamric and numerous great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are 4 sisters, Thelma “Jean” Butcher (Kevin) of Cox’s Mills, Jewell Kathryn Jones (Chester) of Nobe, Carol Lynn Davis (Denver) of St. Marys, Sheryll Ann Tyler of Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with her parents (Aubrey and Dorothy) and her husband (Buck), Karen is preceded in death by 4 siblings, Charlene Sue Smith, James Harvey Mounts, Aubrey Hanley Mounts Jr., and Terry Joe Mounts.

Karen’s request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of her life will be conducted at a later date.
