Obituaries

Marie Ann Wilson, 70 of Munday, WV; (Calhoun County), departed this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Monday, June 30, 2025 at her residence near Munday, with her loving family by her side.

She was born November 17, 1954 in Parkersburg, WV; daughter of the late Lester and Helen (Richards) Murphy.

Marie was a loving wife and mother, but found pure joy in her grandchildren. She will always be remembered by her giving spirit, and the love and dedication to those she cherished. She was a refuge to countless rescued dogs and cats and loved the children she cared for over the years as her own. To be loved by Marie was an honor, she gave unconditional love and support to those closest to her.

She is also a graduate of Calhoun County High School, class of 1972 and longtime member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

On August 16, 1971 Marie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clarke A. Wilson Jr. They shared 53 years of marriage together and he will greatly miss her.

From that union, 2 loving daughters survive, Ashley Wolfe and husband Jeremy of Ravenswood, WV; and Jessica Melonas and husband Chris of Williamstown, WV; 3 grandchildren, Jackson Clarke Melonas, Brooks Clark Wolfe, and Nicole Marie Wolfe, and 2 close family friends, whom Marie always treated as her own, Adrianne and Patrick Shimer.

Also surviving are 5 siblings, Marvin Murphy and wife Marcia of Weston, WV; Linda Blair and husband Bernard of Davisville, WV; Kay Swisher and husband Ron of Laurens, SC; Bobbi McEndree and husband Glenn of Spencer, WV; and Leslie Gwinn and husband Michael of Given, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with her parents (Lester and Helen), Marie is preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Arnold and husband Larry, brother-in-laws, Junior Ball and Marvin Wilson, sister-in-law, Janey Wilson, and in-laws Clarke and Effie Wilson.

At Marie’s request there will be no services. To honor her memory, monetary contributions can be made to the Cain’s Veterinary Services Emergency Fund, 7519 W. Little Kanawha Hwy, Big Bend, WV; 26136 or WV Caring Hospice Administrative Office, PO Box 760, Authurdale WV; 26520 with a note of Marie Wilson memorial in the memo line.
