May June Lilly

May June Bailey Lilly, 88 of Cox’s Mills, WV; entered into her eternal life in the afternoon hours of Saturday, March 5, 2022 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

She was born May 31, 1933 in Hugheston, WV; (Kanawha County) daughter of the late Nelson P. and Edith Gibson Bailey.

May is the 6^th child of 16 children born to this family. She is the oldest member of The Church of God of Cox’s Mills. She was a devout Christian, loved reading the Bible and could quote scripture and could give the reference to most questions from the scripture. She loved her family, flowers, quilting, crochet, knitting, and sewing. She helped raise many of her nieces and nephews and worked as a home health aide for many years.

Surviving is her son Clifford Lilly of Leola, SD; 5 adopted children, Terry, Larry, Tommy, David, and Kevin Lilly, her sister, Beatrice George of Cox’s Mills, and a special niece May loved like a daughter, Edith Lemon of Williamstown, WV.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with her parents, May is preceded in death by 2 adopted sons, Matthew and Jerry Lilly, and 7 brothers and 7 sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Cox’s Mills Church of God on Route 74, at 2:00 PM; Friday, March 11, 2022 with Rev. Billy Ray Gibson and Rev. Chester Osborne Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Horn Creek Cemetery near Cox’s Mills. Friends will be received from 11:00 – 2:00 Friday at the church near Cox’s Mills.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Church of God in Cox’s Mills or WV Caring Hospice in honor of May.
