William R. “Buster” Collins age 67 of Glenville, WV; departed this life on the afternoon of Saturday June 4, 2016 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV; following a lengthy battle with Cancer.
Born November 18, 1948 in Sutton, WV; Buster was the son of the late Gail Collins and Rosa Weese Cottrill who survives at her Linn, WV, home.
Buster was a graduate of Sand Fork High School, class of 1968. He was a logger in the Forestry industry for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, reading books, working in the garden, spending time outdoors, and working with heavy equipment. Buster was also a Christian by faith.
Buster was a man with a big heart, he wouldn’t hesitate to give you the shirt off his back or the last dime he had, if he thought it would help. He never thought of himself first, taking care of others long before burdening his loved one with his problems.
Along with his mother, Buster is survived by 4 sisters, Betty Anderson and husband Ray of Glenville, WV; Percie Hickman and husband Delmas of Orlando, WV; Neva Cottrill of Linn, WV; and Goldie Holmes of Sand Fork, WV.
Buster is also survived by long term companion, Joanna King Collins of Glenville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his father, Buster was preceded in death by his son Bruce Collins on November 10, 1983. He was also preceded in death by 1 brother Larry Cottrill, step-father, Minter Cottrill, 2 sister-in-laws, Sandy Drennen and Annie King, and 1 brother-in-law, Jimmy Holmes .
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 5:00 PM; Friday, June 10, 2016 with Rev. Phil Wilson officiating.
Following services, Buster’s request for cremation will be honored and the family will have a private burial in the Meadow Lane Cemetery in Glenville.
Friends will be received from 3-5 PM; Friday afternoon at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contribution be made in Busters honor to the Cancer Fund, at the Glenville First Baptist Church, 217 E Main St, Glenville, WV 26351.
