Glenna Queen age 107 Grantsville formerly of Center St. in Glenville, departed this life at 5:20 AM; Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center in Grantsville, following an extend illness.
Born July 30, 1909 in Cox’s Mills, West Virginia, Glenna was the daughter of the late James and Lottie White Butcher.
Glenna was retired from the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, MD. She loved to volunteer her time at the Gilmer Co. Historical Society and Gilmer Co. Public Library. She received the Service above Self Award, and donated to many charities. Glenna also loved to travel and research history, having seen much of the United States and Germany.
Glenna was united in marriage to Russell F. Queen who also preceded her in death.
Glenna was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been survived by her caregivers, Robert and Mary Alltop of Cox’s Mills, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Glenna was preceded in death by 3 Brothers, Steve, Willard, and John Butcher, and 2 sisters, Lottie Wiseman and Mary Roberts.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc, 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Wednesday, August 24, 2016 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Horn Creek Cemetery in Cox’s Mills. Friends may call from 11:00-1:00 Wednesday at the Mortuary.
