Rodney Palmer McCord age 32 of Dusk Camp Run Road, Sand Fork, WV; departed this life suddenly on the morning of Saturday July 16, 2016 at his residence.
Born February 27, 1984 in Grantsville, WV; Rodney was the son of Rodney Carr of Leading Creek and Nancy Peggs McCord of Glenville.
Rodney was a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 2003. He was employed as a mechanic at Western Auto in Glenville and he was a former rig hand in the oil and gas industry. In his spare time, Rodney enjoyed Coon hunting with his children, ATV riding, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
Along with his parents, Rodney is survived by his companion of 16 years, Ashley Hickman of Dusk Camp, 2 children, Seanna McCord and Rodney P. McCord Jr. who both live at home, 3 siblings, Steven McCord of Arlington, VA; Bridget Brewster and husband Michael of Leading Creek, and Jennifer Hamrick and husband Rob of Normantown. Also surviving is 1 niece and 2 nephews, Chassidy Tristan and Bentley Hamrick all of Normantown.
Rodney’s request for cremation has been honored and the family will have a memorial service on Saturday July 23, 2016 at 5:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy in Sand Fork, WV; with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating.
