George William “JR” Short Jr. age 24 of Cox’s Mills, WV; departed this life suddenly on the morning of Sunday, October 2, 2016 as a result of an automobile accident.
Born July 16, 1992 in Weston, WV; JR is the son of George W. and Sharon Kay Self Short of Hemlock Road in Linn, WV.
JR was a graduate of the Gilmer County High School, Class of 2010. He was a Station operator for Dominion Oil and Gas and member of the A.F.L.C.I.O. Union. In his spare time, JR enjoyed fishing, ATV riding, WVU and Clemson football, spending time with family and friends, and he was a Baptist by faith.
Along with his parents, JR is survived by 2 brothers, Eldon O. Short and wife Brianna of Camden, WV; and Joshua C. Short of Linn, WV; maternal grandparents, William and Patricia Self of Cox’s Mills, WV; 1 niece, Hailey Short of Camden, WV; and his girlfriend Hannah Simmons of Cox’s Mills.
JR was preceded in death by his nephew, Hogan Short, and Paternal grandparents, Eldon and Martha Short.
The family’s request for cremation has been honored and a Celebration of Life for JR will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Dr., Glenville, WV; 26351 at 6:00 PM; Thursday, October 6, 2016 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Friends and family will gather from 4-6 Thursday evening at the mortuary.
