Obituaries

Murl Junior Smarr age 71 of Glenville, WV; departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV; following a short battle with cancer.
Born February 18, 1945 in Braxton County, WV; Murl is the son of the late John Junior and Garnett Stout Smarr.
Murl was an over the road truck driver for Flying W Plastics for many years. He enjoyed classic cars, collecting die-cast cars and trucks, spending time with family and friends, and especially spoiling his grandchildren whenever possible.
On September 27, 1964, Murl was united in marriage to Dora Bell Reed Smarr, who survives at their Glenville home.
Surviving are 7 children, Donna Fox and husband John of Glenville, Brandy Williams of Longview, TX; Gary Smarr and wife Lisa K. of Glenville, John Smarr and wife Katina of Dusk Camp, WV; Lisa D. Smarr of Parkersburg, WV; Melissa Francis and husband Shawn of Barberton, OH; and William Smarr of Sand Fork, WV.
There are also 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren surviving, along with 3 siblings, Shirley Townsend of Glenville, Ronnie Smarr and wife Rosie of Linn, WV; and Jimmy Smarr and wife Rachel of Buckhannon.
Along with his parents, Murl was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Lacy Smarr.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351, at 1:00 PM; Sunday, October 9, 2016 with Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Auburn Cemetery on RT 74 near the Gilmer/Ritchie line. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM; Saturday evening at the mortuary.
