Lonnie D. Garvin age 85 of Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life in the early morning hours of Monday, March 6, 2017 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV; following an extended illness.
Born August 14, 1931 in Webster County, Lonnie was the son of the late Henry and Vada Clutter Garvin.
Lonnie was a loving and caring man who was a well tender for Dominion Gas until his retirement in 1991, having nearly 40 years experience. He was an avid collector of guns and watches and loved trading guns, cars, and anything else he could. In his spare time, Lonnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, helping others whenever possible, spending time with his family and friends, and attending services at the Church of God of Prophecy in Sand Fork, WV..
Surviving is his companion of 25 years, Jo Ann Jones who resides at their home on US Hwy 5 West of Glenville, 1 Son, Lonnie D. Garvin Jr. and wife Yang Sun of Las Vegas, Nevada, 2 step children, Sharie L. Eckenrode-Jones and husband Shane of Capon Bridge, WV; and 4 siblings, Carmel Garvin and wife Bonnie and Cam Garvin and wife Betty Jo, both of Parkersburg, WV; Buelah Heater and husband Ken of Buckhannon, WV; and Helen M. Wagoner and husband Karl of Little Hocking, Ohio.
Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Mikel Ray and Tisha Marie Garvin, both of Las Vegas, NV; and 1 step granddaughter, Molly McVickers, of Capon Bridge, WV.
Along with his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by 1 son, Ronald Ray Garvin, and 2 sisters, Waneta Bee and Mildred A. Garvin.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Dr; Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Friday, March 10, 2017 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery on US Hwy 5 West of Glenville. Friends will be received from 11:00-1:00 Friday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family of Lonnie request memorial contributions be made to the Church of God of Prophecy, 122 Burk St, Sand Fork, WV; 26430. Following burial a dinner is being prepared at the Church of God of Prophecy, all are encouraged to attend and share in food and fellowship.
