Alta Virginia Baker age 93 of Angus Drive, Glenville, WV; (Letter Gap Community) departed this life in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Genesis Health Care, Glenville Center following an extended illness.
Born April 23, 1923 in Gilmer County, Alta Virginia is the daughter of the late L.M. “Buster” and Mae Maxwell Collins.
Alta was a homemaker and graduate of Normantown High School. She attended the Crooked Run Church and was a caretaker for the elderly.
On March 27, 1941 she was united in marriage to Harold Baker, who preceded her in death on November 10, 1973.
Surviving are 3 children, Elizabeth Ann Kay of Letter Gap, Mary V. “Dollie” Reaser and husband George of Radcliff, Ohio, and Edwin L. Baker and wife Charlotte of Barberton, Ohio.
Alta Virginia is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 8 great great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents, Alta was preceded in death by 1 brother, Charles Collins, and 1 sister, Ruth Linger.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 11:00 AM; Friday March 24, 2017 with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Hiney Cemetery near Linn, WV. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM; Thursday Evening at the mortuary.
