Glenn Arnold Walton, 80, of Bridgeport, WV; passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 from complications of Alzheimer’s.
He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Glenn was born on July 4, 1936 in Weston, WV; and was raised on his family’s farm in Cox’s Mills, WV. He is preceded in death by his father, Simon Walton and mother, Elizabeth Vera Jones Walton and stepmother, Loureatha Lynch Walton.
On November 23, 1956 he was united in marriage to Edna Fay Murphy who survives at their loving Bridgeport, home and were happily married for 60 years.
Glenn is survived by his 3 children, Jack A. Walton, of Malvern, PA; Gary L. Walton, of Uniontown, PA; and Annette Jill Naylon, of Littleton, CO; 2 grandchildren, Richard L. Walton and wife Amanda of Uniontown, PA; and Tyler C. Naylon of Littleton, CO; and 2 great-grandchildren, Deacon and Penelope Walton of Uniontown, PA.
He is also survived by 4 sisters, Arlena King of Rough-n-Ready, CA; Fay Hitt of Barberton, OH; Golda Whitehair and husband Deward, of Bridgeport, WV; and Jean Bailey of Ravenna, OH.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Walton and his wife Willa Jean.
Glenn graduated from Troy High School in 1954 and served 6 years in the United States Army Reserves. Glenn was employed by Babcock and Wilcox from 1956 until 1974. He retired from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as an Inspector in 1998 with an impeccable service record.
He enjoyed spending time with his loving family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time golfing with several of his friends and riding in his 1928 Model A Ford with his fellow Model A club members until his illness.
He was a devoted family man, career professional and an active member of his community who always made time for those who were in need. He will be greatly missed by so many who knew and loved him.
The family of Glenn A. Walton would like to sincerely thank the Minnich family of Glenville, for their continuous loving support throughout Glenn’s illness.
They would also like to thank the caring staff at Colonial Place located in Elkins, WV; as well as the Mountain Hospice of Belington, WV. They provided the highest level of comfort and care in his final weeks which we will be forever grateful.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Dr; Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Friday, March 31, 2017 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Troy IOOF Cemetery. friends will be received from 4-8 PM; Thursday evening at the mortuary in Glenville. Ellyson Mortuary Inc. is honored to assist the family of Glenn A.
