Reverend Lorous Ivan Roberts age 90 of Glenville, WV; departed this life at 11:50 PM; Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Genesis Health Care, Glenville Center, following an extended illness.
Born February 24, 1927 in Calhoun County, WV; Lorous is the son of the late Jesse and Violet Grimm Roberts.
Lorous was a retired employee for the Ford Motor Company with 30 plus years experience at the former Glenville Ford Sales. Lorous has a degree from WV Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV; and was a licensed Methodist Minister and an ordained Baptist Minister. In his spare time, he enjoyed fox chasing, hunting, playing softball, coaching softball, and bowling.
On May 19, 1947, Lorous was united in marriage to Maxine Amos Roberts, who preceded him in death on January 25, 1997. On February 14, 2001, Lorous was united in marriage to his second wife Elah Hartshorn Gainer Roberts who survives in Parkersburg, WV.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Beverly Hawkins and husband Ed of Edenton, NC; and Angela Isenhart and husband John of Glenville, WV; and 5 siblings, John Roberts (Bert) of Ravenna, OH; Earsel Roberts of Nobe, WV; Brown Roberts (Beck) of Nobe, WV; Theda Deuley (Gerald) of Belpre, OH; and Nancy Yoak (Bob) of Nobe, WV.
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Gary Ellyson (Linda Lou) of Gassaway, WV; Dusty Ellyson of Glenville, WV; Nicholas Hawkins (Toni) of Kill Devil Hills, NC; and Richard Hawkins (Vicky) of Vienna, WV; 11 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren, and 2 sister-in-laws, Betty Roberts of Ravenna, OH; and Barbara Roberts of Nobe, WV.
Along with his wife and parents, Lorous was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lorren Roberts and Charles “Chink” Roberts and 1 sister, Margie Grogg.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Dr; Glenville, WV; 26351 at 11:00 AM; Wednesday, May 10, 2017 with Rev. Ronzel Roberts and Rev. Harold Francis officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Nobe, WV; with Full Military Honors provided by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard. Friends will be received from 4-8 PM; Tuesday Evening at the mortuary.
