Nelson Simmons age 61 of Glenville, WV; departed this life on the morning of Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Genesis Health Care, Glenville Center following an extended illness.
He was born August 18, 1955 in Weston, WV; son of the late Levi C. and Ethel Sims Simmons.
Nelson was a Christian by faith who loved the Lord and was not afraid to sing gospel music at Sunday Services when he was able. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting keys, watching westerns on TV, and was the door man at the nursing home for many years.
Surviving are 3 sisters, Charlotte Wilson of Clarksburg, WV; Patty Shumaker and husband Neil of Vincent, OH; and Anita Hartshorn and husband Bobby of Glenville, WV. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Along with his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by one infant brother, Edward Charles Simmons; 1 sister, Edith Carol Simmons; and 2 brothers, Raymond and Gary Simmons.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Dr; Glenville, WV; 26351 at 11:00 AM; Monday, June 18, 2017 with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery near Glenville. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM; Sunday evening at the Mortuary.
