Lillie Mae Davis age 86 of Warrenville Heights, OH; departed this life on the evening of Wednesday, July 05, 2017 in the Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights, OH following an extended illness.
Born March 07, 1931 in Cox’s Mills, WV; Lillie is the daughter of the late Okey and Vera Bennett Davis.
Lillie attended elementary school at the Bailey School, she was a graduate of Glenville High School, and Glenville State College. She was a teacher for the Bedford City Schools in Bedford, OH; for 36 years having retired in 1988.
In her spare time Lillie enjoyed traveling to far away destinations. She took 2 European tours, trips to Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong. She once took a 28 day bus tour to Alaska, and trips all across the United States and Canada. Lillie was a huge sports fan with special interest in the Cleveland Indians.
Along with traveling, Lillie enjoyed playing bingo, following national politics, playing with her niece Stacy’s dogs, Kona and Roscoe, and teaching.
Surviving are 2 brothers, Bobby W. Davis (Janet) of Elyria, OH; Harry “Buck” Davis (Joanne)of Highland Heights, OH; and 4 sisters: , Mary Montgomery of Independence, OH; Bonnie Lee Taylor of Middleburg Heights, OH; Mavis M. Risley of Northfield, OH; Alice R. Shalala of Parma Heights, OH.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Along with her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Okey Lee Jr; John W; Herbert E. “Gene”, and Denzil Davis, and 2 sisters, Irene Cowles and Maxine Davis.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Monday, July 10, 2017 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hiney Cemetery near Linn, WV.
