Vinsen Adrian Post, age 77, of Flower, WV departed this life in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his residence with his loving wife at his side. He was born July 14, 1939 in Gem, WV and is the son of the late Oscar and Faye Goldsmith Post.
He was a graduate of Burnsville High School, Glenville State College and attended graduate classes at the University of Virginia. He started his teaching and coaching career in Staunton, VA at Woodrow Wilson High School and later, at Burnsville High and Braxton County High Schools.
Vinsen was also proud to be a former coal miner where he was a supervisor and he also helped with construction of Interstate 79 in the 1970s. He was a former standout football player at Glenville State College, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to Bluegrass music, and he had what his family described as an ornery sense of humor.
On January 18, 1964, Vinsen was united in marriage to Evelyn Craft Post. Their love carried them through 53 years of marriage, three beautiful daughters, Sandy Post, Raleigh, NC; Pam Stewart (Harold), Burnsville, WV; Betsy Post-Garza, Esquire (LtCol John Garza, USMC), Ft. Lee, VA; three grandchildren, Jordan Flynt (Kaylee), Mentor, OH; Zachary Flynt (Tianna), Oceanside, CA; Grace Marks
(Nate), Flower, WV; Jake Stewart, Burnsville, WV; and five great grandchildren, Ethan Marks, Ezequiel Monjaras, Logan Flynt, Enye Marks and Nolan Flynt.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 13, 2017 with Rev. Doug Smailes officiating. Burial will follow in the Copen Cemetery in Copen, WV. Friends will be received from 11-2 Thursday at the mortuary. Following burial, a dinner is being prepared at the Burnsville Community Building; all are invited to attend and share in food and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Kanawha Alumni Association, PO Box 324, Burnsville, WV 26335 or the Glenville State College Athletic Fund, GSC, Glenville, WV 26351.
