Lula Belle Godfrey age 64 of Dusk Camp Run Road near Sand Fork, WV departed this life suddenly on the afternoon of Wednesday August 23, 2017 in Glenville, WV while playing with her grandchildren at the Sue Morris Sports Complex. Born December 10, 1952 in Gilmer County, Lula Belle is the daughter of the late Hoy S. and Audrey Grace Rogers Keith.
Lula Belle was a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1970. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, living the quiet life in Gilmer County, spending time with family and friends, spoiling her grandchildren whenever possible, and attending local sporting events. In her later years, Lula was a librarian at the Sand Fork Elementary School, and a teaching aid at the new Gilmer County Elementary School. She also attended church at the Church of God of Prophecy in Sand Fork.
On March 4, 1972 Lula Belle was united in marriage to Steven E. Godfrey Sr. who survives at their Dusk Camp home.
Surviving are 5 children, Jeff Keith and wife Susan of Ellis Road, Aaron Godfrey of Dusk Camp, Stevie Godfrey of Weston, Josh Godfrey of Dusk Camp, and Crystal Conrad and husband Jimmy of Burnsville, and 4 siblings, Hoy Keith Jr. and wife Linda of Lost Creek, Virginia Self and husband Dennis of Dusk Camp, Loretta Hayhurst and husband Richard of Weston, and Nickie Leiding and husband David of Nebraska.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Miranda Hudson (Jeremy), Jamie Conrad, Steven “Trey” Godfrey III (Mary), Kathern Keith (Devin), Kaleb Conrad, Elysa Conrad, Alex Conrad, Kylie Godfrey, Addison Godfrey, Chayton Godfrey, and Tristan Conrad, and 2 great-grandchildren, Mikah Fisher, and Kyle Barfield.
Along with her parents, Lulu Belle was preceded in death by 1 sister, Hazel “Joy” McCord.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 2:00 PM; Sunday, August 27, 2017 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery on Dusk Camp Run Road. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM; Saturday evening at the mortuary.
