Freddie Joe Montgomery age 79 of Glenville, WV (Kanawha Drive Community) departed this life just before midnight on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at his residence with his loving wife and family by his side.
Born September 12, 1938 in Ireland, WV Fred is the son of the late Ernest S. and Edna G. Cunningham Montgomery
Fred was a graduate of Glenville High School and worked for several companies based in Glenville over his lifetime. He worked at the local Glass Factory, Appalachian Piping, and Glenville State College and while at GSC, he worked for Campus Security as a Patrol Officer, having retired in 2003. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed spending time with family and friends, living the quiet life in West Virginia, and he enjoyed fishing whenever possible.
On August 18, 1970 Fred was united in marriage to Marilyn Sue Edman Montgomery, they celebrated 39 wonderful years of marriage back in August and she survives at their Kanawha Drive home.
Surviving are 2 children, Jeffrey Joe Montgomery and wife Patty of Sand Fork, WV; and Pamela Cutlip and husband Samuel of Glenville, WV; 4 grandchildren, Larry Frederick, Christina Junkins and husband Kevin, Patrick Joe Montgomery, and Kayla Montgomery, and 3 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.
Also surviving are 2 sisters, Carolyn McCauley and husband Lawrence of Mansfield, OH; and Debbie Roberts and husband Mike of Frametown, WV, his stepmother, Anna Ruth Montgomery of Glenville, and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by 1 brother, Dwight Montgomery, and 2 step sisters, Cathy Nolan and Jolane Westfall.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 11:00 AM. Thursday, September 28, 2017 with Pastor Chris Cosner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery near Glenville.
Friends will be received from 4-8 PM; Wednesday evening at the Mortuary.
