Patrick Lee Stout 80 of Cedarville, WV departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Louis A. Johnson Medical Center in Clarksburg following a short illness.
He was born April 23, 1937 in Gilmer County, WV son of the late Roy Lee and Gwendolyn Prunty Stout.
Patrick was a veteran of the United States Army having served for many years in the armored division and retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant . He was injured during the Vietnam War and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star for valor, and numerous commendations for service.
In his spare time, Patrick enjoyed watching any kind of sports on TV, farming, working with heavy equipment, and devilling his sisters whenever possible. Patrick loved spending time with his family, he was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed mentoring the youth of Cedarville and was a Christian by faith.
Surviving are his 4 children, Sandy Profitt (Russ) of Hodgenville, KY; James Stout (Sheila) of Webster, KY; Gary Stout of Brandenburg, KY; and Gene “Tyke” Wilson (Laurie) of Guston, KY; 1 brother, Gerald Stout (Sue)of Kimbolton, OH; and 4 sisters, Ellen Davies (Bill) and Nancy Jerrolds (Larry) of Fort Mill, SC; Yvonne Kellogg (Oliver Sladek) of Cedarville, WV; and Mary Sue Smoot of Cedarville.
There are also 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren surviving.
Along with his parents, Patrick was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Stout, sister, Betsy Moss, and daughter-in-law, Karen Stout.
A celebration of life will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 25, 2017 with Elder Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedarville Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the United Sates Army. Friends will be received from 11-1 Saturday at the mortuary.
