Ernestine Pearl Sprouse age 73 of Marietta, Ohio, formerly of Parkersburg, WV departed this life in the early morning hours of Sunday December 24, 2017 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Born May 7, 1944 in Gilmer County, Ernestine is the daughter of the late Carl “Barker” and Geraldine Moss Mowery.
Ernestine was a graduate of Normantown High School, class of 1963. She was a homemaker and former custodian for the Wood County Board of Education. Ernestine is a long time member of the Upper Steer Run Baptist Church and in her spare time enjoyed gardening and collectables.
Ernestine is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Along with her parents, Ernestine was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Stanley Sprouse, sister, Duretha Mowery, and former husband, Delmas Franklin Sprouse.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 11:00 AM; Thursday, December 28, 2017 with Rev. Roger Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner Cemetery in Lockney, WV. Friends will be received from 10-11 AM; Thursday morning at the mortuary.
