James Willard “Jim” Montgomery age 81 of Ellis Road, Linn, WV; departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the Louis A. Johnson Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV; following a month long illness.

He was born April 17, 1938 in Copley, WV; son of the late Willard and Bessie Grogg Montgomery.

Jim is a graduate of Sand Fork High School, class of 1956 and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He worked several jobs over the years, including, Gilco Supply, 4D Plastics, Flying W Plastics, and he retired from Pennzoil in 1997 as a welder/fabricator.

Jim was a long time member of the Upper Ellis United Methodist Church, having been a Sunday School Teacher and the Church Treasurer for the last 10 plus years. In his spare time, he loved to eat, working with horses, relaxing in the country, and living the quiet life.

On September 5, 1965 Jim was united in marriage to Rosazala Shackleford Montgomery, who survives at their home on Ellis Road.

Surviving are 2 sons, James Francis “Frank” Montgomery and wife Diane and Richard Mark Montgomery and wife Charlene both of Linn, WV; 5 grandchildren, James Montgomery (Rebecca) of Dover, DE; Chris Montgomery of Linn, WV; Jessica Barnett (Walter) of Baldwin, WV; and Matthew and Jason Montgomery also of Linn, WV; and 2 great-grandchildren, Sylvie Montgomery and Damien Reid Barnett.

Also surviving are 2 sisters, Helen Steele of Sliding Run, and Mary Elizabeth Lowther and husband Avin of Linn, and a host of other loving family and friends.

Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Gwen Elizabeth Montgomery and a brother, Bill Montgomery.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 10:00 AM; Saturday, June 15, 2019. Burial will follow in the Hiney Cemetery near Linn, WV; with full Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corp. and the Lewis County Honor Guard. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM; Friday evening at the mortuary in Glenville and 9-10 AM; Saturday morning.
