Rachel L. Curry age 99 of Glenville, WV departed this life at 12:34 PM; Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Genesis Health Care, Glenville Center following an extended illness.
She was born June 24, 1921 in Tanner, WV; daughter of the late William and Sada Bee Wright.
Rachel is a graduate of Tanner High School, class of 1941 and she worked at Rubber Fabrication in Grantsville and as an inspector at the Kinney Shoe Factory in Glenville where she later retired.
She was a Christian by faith and member of the Little Kanawha Independent Church near Burnsville. After retirement, Rachel loved being caregiver and babysitter to all the kids in the Kanawha Drive community and especially enjoyed visits from her life long friends.
On December 13, 1941 Rachel was united in marriage to Ellis Curry who preceded her in death on December 27, 1966.
Surviving are 3 grandchildren, Lisa Shepherd (Eric) of Sarasota, FL; Robin Brannon (Tom) of Coolville, OH; and Kevin Curry of Elkins, WV; daughter-in-laws, Grace Curry of Kalkaska, MI; Linda Thomas (Charlie) of Williamstown, WV; and Violet Thomas (Sam) of Camden, WV; 2 great-grandchildren, Ella Shepherd of Sarasota, FL; and Annie Curry of Weston, WV; and 2 great great-grandsons, Tyrone and Corey of Weston.
Also surviving are 2 sisters, Virginia Lydick of Glenville, and Wilda Woodward of Alexandria, VA; her sister-in-law, Betty Wright of Glenville, her cat named Tiger, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Rachel is preceded in death by her 2 sons, Arden and Richard Curry, 2 sisters, Ernestine Anderson and Dessie Giboney, and 5 brothers, Harold, Dennis, Harvey, William, and Willard Wright Sr.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Meadow Lane Cemetery in Glenville at 1:00 PM; Tuesday, July 28, 2020 with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will follow beside her loving husband, Ellis.
