Emma Jean James, 86, of Normantown, WV passed away on October 5, 2021 at the Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Hospital and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Emma Jean was a member of the Upper Steer Run Missionary Baptist Church where for many years she has prepared the unleavened bread for the Lord’s Supper. One of her gifts was cooking. She was a wonderful cook and loved to prepare meals for her family and others which they enjoyed and looked forward to. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend who cared greatly for those around her.
She was born September 6, 1935 in Stumptown, WV to the late Clarence V. and May (Stevens) Summers. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Anda Lee Butcher and Alice Virginia Smith.
On November 19, 1955, Emma Jean became the wife of Hill James who survives at their home. She was a wonderful housewife and mother and was very dedicated to her family. In addition to her husband of over 65 years, she will be deeply missed by and is survived by: two daughters: Connie Sue James of Normantown, WV and Susan Jean Scott (David) of Harrisville, WV; one son: Elbon John James (Linda) of Normantown, WV; six grandchildren: Jeremy, Josh (Kristen) and Jenny James, Nathan (Kara) James, Doug (Allison) Beall and Tracy (Shane) Moyers; two step-grandchildren: Dave (Megan) and Dan (Autumn) Scott; nine great-grandchildren: Athena and Aubrey James, Chloe and Taten James, Brody, Joel and Brooklyn Beall, Brent and Braylie Moyers; two step-great-grandchildren: Morgan and Isaiah Scott.
In honoring her wishes, Emma Jean requested Bobby Moore to read scripture and have a prayer at a private graveside service at the Beall Cemetery, Normantown, WV for the immediate family.
