Edward Lee “Ed” Wiant, 71, of Stout’s Mills, WV; departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Thursday, December 23, 2021 at his residence following a short illness.
He was born February 9, 1950 in Sand Fork, WV; son of the late Layfette “Buster” and Mae Collins.
Ed is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1969 and worked as an Appraiser for the Gilmer County Assessor’s office until his retirement in 2012. He also worked for many years at Louie Glass in Weston. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed Gardening, painting, woodworking, Search-A-Word puzzles, living the quiet life on Sliding Run, watching and feeding birds and squirrels and studying his bible.
Ed is a Baptist by faith and member of the Little Kanawha Independent Church near Burnsville. He gave his life to the Lord on December 12, 1962 and taught bible study as well. He was blessed to call many people his friends and loved spending time with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter.
On December 3, 1970 Ed was united in marriage to Judy Ann Tomblin Wiant, who survives at the Stout’s Mills home.
Surviving is his loving daughter, Amy Jarosz and husband Stephen of Scarbro, WV; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Jarosz, also of Scarbro.
Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents, Ed is preceded in death by 2 siblings, Becky Drake and Mike Wiant.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Johns Shiflet Cemetery on Turkey Fork Run Road at 1:00 PM; Thursday, December 30, 2021 with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating.
