Ruby Francis Butcher

Ruby Francis (Jones) Butcher, 96, of Glenville, WV; formerly of Troy, WV; passed away in the afternoon of January 17, 2022 at the Genesis Health Care Glenville Center.
She was born April 4th 1925 near Cox’s Mills, WV. Her parents were Adam Jones and Edna (Shackelford) Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Uriu Butcher, who died at the age of 96 in 2000. They were married for 56 years. She was the last surviving member of a family of 19 children.
She is survived by her son David Butcher and wife Beverly (Seckman) Butcher of Washington, WV and her daughter Virginia (Butcher) Heater and husband Louie Heater of Huntsville, Alabama.
She has four grandchildren; Danny Heater (Christy) Jennifer Butcher, David Butcher and Dawn Butcher (Peter). She has four Great Grandchildren; Susan Heater, Dakota Ellison, Derrick Ellison and Emma Grace Butcher and one Great Grandson, Kaden Ellison.
She was preceded in death by four brothers Ray Jones, Raymond Jones, Don Jones and Claude Jones and five sisters Nellie Woofter (Jim), Ellenora Horner (Darrel), Bonnie Williams (Russell) Brenice Young (Ross) and Mary McCartney (Willard). Also preceding her were nine half brothers and sisters.
Ruby was a Christian of Faith and a 70+ year member of the Troy United Brethern/United Methodist Church. For many years she was a Sunday school teacher and leader of the church youth group. She loved working with children.
She was a very hard worker, a homemaker, farmer, carpenter, and could make about anything. After her kids were grown she worked doing home health care and worked for several years at Sommerville’s Store in Linn, WV.
Her joys in life were caring for her grandchildren and playing with them on the farm. She liked gardening, quilting, sewing, taking care of her herd of sheep and most of all visiting people and helping anyone she could.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Saturday, January 22, 2022 with Rev. Bill Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Troy IOOF cemetery in Troy. Friends will be received from 12:00 Noon -1:00 PM Saturday at the mortuary in Glenville.
