Donald “Don” Phillips, 88 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Genesis Health Care Glenville Center following an extended illness.

He was born September 4, 1933 in Machias, NY; son of the late Grace Graham and Gordon Phillips and wife Marion Phillips. Marion was the only mother Don knew after his mother’s passing at a very young age.

Don is a graduate of Machias High School, Class of 1952 and a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. After this service to his country, Donald graduated from Alford University in 1955 with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, then obtained his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Buffalo in 1959.

During his time at the University of Buffalo, Don met his future wife and in 1967 they moved to Glenville where he worked at Glenville State University as the Media Director with 40 years’ experience. Along with his wife, Don was a long time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Glenville and in his spare time he enjoyed making Furniture as a hobby, camping, spending time with Marilyn, and he was a Boy Scout Leader, and member of the Glenville Lions Club.

While enrolled at Buffalo Don met his future wife Marilyn Wall Phillips and on June 27, 1959 they were united in marriage for 62 years until Marilyn’s passing on March 25, 2022.

From that union a son and daughter survive, David Phillips of East Boston, MA; and Meg Phillips of North Carolina, and a sister, Delores Jaenecke of North Tonawanda, NY.

Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and many other wonderful family and friends.

Don’s request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of his life will be included in Sunday services at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Glenville on Sunday, September 11, 2022.date.
