Obituaries

Bernard L. Morris, 75 of Normantown, WV; (Stumptown community) departed this earthly life in the mid-morning hours of Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Minnie Hamilton Health System facility in Grantsville, WV following an extended illness.

He was born at home on December 16, 1946 in Frametown, WV; son of the late Geraldine Morris Shaffer and Oren Eagle.

Bernard attended Calhoun County High School and was a Christian by faith.

 He went to work at age 17 and worked for 45 years before retiring. He loved talking on the CB radio and many may remember him as Blue Eagle. He loved working in the garden and enjoyed working with flowers. Most of all, he loved those grandkids.  His son often said “he taught me so much, he was not only my dad, he was also my friend.” We will miss his laughter and he will be forever loved and forever missed.

On July 20, 1972 Bernard was united in marriage to Katherine “Kathy” Parsons Morris who survives at their Stumptown home.

Surviving are 3 children, Michelle R. Motto and husband Scott of Normantown, and Douglas J. Morris and wife Melissa of Rosedale, Scott D. Morris and wife April of Fairmont, WV; 5 grandchildren, Levi, Logan, Mason Jacob and Andrea Morris, 4 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Wyatt, Benson, and Jaxson.  

Also surviving are and 4 half-siblings, Beverly Pierce, and Joe, Tim, and Billy Eagle and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Bernard’s request for cremation has been honored and a private family gathering will be conducted at a later date. He will ultimately be laid to rest at the Collins Community Cemetery at Stumptown.

The family wants to express great gratitude to Dr. Suresh and the kind nurses at Minnie Hamilton Health Care, They true have nursing hearts.
