Robert Edward Jones, 86 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life Thursday evening, November 2, 2022 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV; following a brief illness.
He was born December 12, 1935 in MacFarlan, WV; son of the late Robert S. and Mabel A. Furr Jones.
Robert is a retired truck driver for Dowell, having driven for them for more than 30 years. In his spare time he enjoyed playing bluegrass music, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. He was a Christian by faith and longtime member of the Otterbein Church near Glenville.
On May 28, 1982 Robert was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Osborn Jones, who preceded him in death on October 19, 2015.
Surviving are 2 sons, Edward Gerald Jones and wife Karrie of Madison, GA; and Robert Dale Jones and wife Tonie of Jefferson, SC; 1 daughter, Stephanie Renee Hess and husband Tiny of Glenville, 5 grandchildren, Megan and Mandy Jones of Madison, GA; Caleb Jones of Jefferson, SC; and Kathryn and Samantha Hess of Glenville.
Also surviving are 6 siblings, Nellie F. Edgell, Donald G. Jones, Olen C. Jones, Glen D. Jones, Shirley P. Beebe and Roger D. Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his wife and parents, Robert is preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Allen Jones.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Monday, November 7, 2022 with Pastor Kevin Jones officiating. Burial will following the Alice Cemetery on Alice Rd; near Glenville. Friends will be received from 11:00 – 1:00 Monday at the mortuary in Glenville.
