James Anthony Stump, 55 of Linn, WV; departed this earthly life suddenly in the evening hours of Monday, May 8, 2023 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
He was born April 20, 1968 in Weston, WV; son of the late Robert and Ellen Losh Stump.
James is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1987 and was tree trimmer for Aspen Tree Service for many years. In his spare time, James enjoyed hunting, working on classic cars, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
On July 2, 1994 James was united in marriage to Melinda Franklin Stump, who survives at their Ellis Road home.
Surviving are 2 children, James D. Stump and Lindsy Stump both of Linn, and 8 siblings, Robert Stump (Sherri) of Chapel, WV; Roger Stump (Tracy) of Sand Fork, Danny Stump (Melinda) of Sand Fork, Kenny Stump (Renee of Sand Fork, Roberta Moyers of Cedarville, Vicki Rollyson (Bill) of Linn, Nicky Lang of Tanner, and Judy Shaffer of Spencer, WV.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by a brother, Rondell Stump and a sister Delores Stump.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Friday, May 12, 2023 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the McHenry II Cemetery near Sand Fork, WV. Friends will be received from 11:00-1:00 Friday morning at the mortuary in Glenville.
