Herbert Clyde Wade, 77, of Tanner, WV; departed this earthly life in the mid-morning hours of Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 21, 1946 in Tanner, son of the late Herbert Bryan and Audra Jesse (Williams) Wade.
Clyde is a veteran of the United States Army having proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division during The Vietnam War. After serving his country, Clyde worked in the oil and gas industry and retired as a pipeline supervisor.
Clyde is a lifetime member of the Three Poplar Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Knights of Pythias Harmony Lodge # 68 in Tanner. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, farming, raising the best coon dogs around (in his younger years), working hard at anything he did, spending time with family and friends, spoiling his grandchildren, whenever possible, and caring for his 2 dogs, Maddie and Bo.
On June 3, 1967 Clyde was united in marriage to Peggy (Grogg) Wade, who survives at their Tanner home.
Surviving are 6 children, Tammy Hatfield and husband Charlie of Smithville, WV; Rodney Wade and wife Paula of Dixon, MO; Allen Wade and wife Monica of Glenville, Kelley Spaur and husband Garry of Philippi, WV; Jessica Law and husband Darwin of Tanner, and Melissa Paxon and husband Kevin of Tanner, 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents, Clyde is preceded in death by 4 siblings, Oras, Delmas, and Lorraine Wade, and Edith Bush.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 2:00 PM; Sunday, September 17, 2023 with Pastor Kevin Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Three Poplar Cemetery on Holts Run with Full Military Honors provided by the United States Army and The Lewis County Honor Guard. Friends will be received from 4:00 – 8:00 PM; Saturday evening at the Mortuary in Glenville.
