Charles Lynn "Gomer" Greenlief
September 15, 1951 - September 18, 2023
Charles Lynn “Gomer” Greenlief, 72 of Troy, WV; departed this earthly life in the evening hours of Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Hill Valley Glenville Health and Rehab Center in Glenville, WV; following an extended illness.
He was born September 15, 1951 in Gilmer County, son of the late Russell and Pauline (Post) Greenlief.
Gomer is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1970. He worked as a laborer for the WV Department of Highways, a dog catcher in Gilmer County, and had a lawn care business with his son. Gomer is described as a Free Spirit by his family and friends. He enjoyed living the good life in WV and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving is his loving son, James Greenlief of Troy, WV; 2 grandchildren, Madison Westfall and Morgan Keyser, and 2 siblings, Gary Greenlief and wife Nancy of Troy, WV; and Patricia “Patty” Greenlief and companion Mike of Matthews, NC.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his daughter, Chasity Westfall and 6 siblings, Homer, Russell, and Hayden Greenlief, Helen Weaver, Betty Burton, and Jean McCartney.
In keeping with his wishes, Charles will be cremated and his remains will be laid to rest with his family in the Alice Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held later in the fall of 2023.
