Genevieve Ellyson Earl, 102, of Grantsville, WV; departed this earthly life in the evening hours of Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Minnie Hamilton Long Term Health Care Center in Grantsville, following an extended illness.
She was born May 18, 1921 in Gilmer County, WV; daughter of the late Walter and Rosa (Price) Ellyson.
Genevieve was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. She was a factory worker for a time and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grantsville. In her spare time, Genevieve enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible, cooking, canning, gardening, reading her Bible, and she was a master quilter.
On June 26, 1942 Genevieve was united in marriage to Len William Earl who preceded her in death on May 29, 2011.
Surviving is one son, Phillip Earl and wife Sherri of Grantsville; 11 grandchildren; Cathy Lewis, Lisa Ferguson, Chad, Cody and Casey Earl, Micheal Earl, Victoria Ray, Jeff, Scott and Matthew Fluharty and Amanda Fluharty Stoddard, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, Genevieve is preceded in death by three children, Orval Earl, Betty Fluharty and Arnold Earl, 2 sisters, Virginia Simmons and Martha Spence, and 7 brothers, Archie, George, Walter, Edward, Bernard Willard, and Charles Ellyson.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 2:00 PM; Sunday, December 17, 2023. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery where she will be reunited with her loving husband. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon – 2:00 PM; Sunday at the Mortuary in Glenville.
