Obituaries

Glen D. Jones, 79, of Linn, WV; departed this earthly life in the mid-morning hours of Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV following a brief illness.

He was born June 10, 1944, in Ritchie County, WV; son of the late Robert and Mabel (Furr) Jones.

Glen spent the majority of his working years as a Lineman or Foreman for various utility and telecommunications companies, most recently retiring as a Foreman with EletriCom, LLC, based out of Paoli, IN.

A self-taught musician, Glen spent much of his time playing, or listening to, Bluegrass music.  This was his passion.  Glen also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, mowing his grass, meals and conversations with the locals, and just living the quiet life in Gilmer County.

On December 12, 1998 Glen was united in marriage to Wilda M. (Cosgrove) Porter Jones, who preceded him in death on March 7, 2021.

Glen is survived by his loving daughter, Sharie Eckenrode (Shane) and granddaughter, Molly McVicker, of Capon Bridge, WV.

Also surviving his sister, Shirley Todd of DE, and brothers, Don Jones of Coolville, OH; Chester Jones of Grantsville, WV; Roger Jones of Glenville, WV, and a number of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors who loved him.

Along with his wife and parents, Glen is preceded in death by 3 siblings, Robert E. “Bob” Jones, Nellie Edgell, and Wayne Jones.

Glen’s request for cremation has been honored and a Memorial Service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 1:00 PM; Saturday, January 6, 2024. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Saturday January 6, at the mortuary in Glenville.
