Dennis “Denny” Maxwell Snyder, 90, of Sand Fork, formerly a long-time resident of Gilmer Station, passed gently into eternity in the evening hours of Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Glenville Health & Rehabilitation Center.

The youngest child of the late Albert Ward and Elizabeth (Stover) Snyder, Denny was born Oct. 5, 1933 in Bower, W.Va. In addition to his parents, Denny was preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Kuhl, Margaret Napalo, and Mary “Peggy” Blake; and his brothers Junior Snyder and Clarence “Pudge” Snyder.

A Christian by faith, Denny loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to gospel music and singing with Sue and Lewis Edwards, Donnie Detamore, and Jimmy Smarr over the years.

After the passing of his father, Denny devoted his life to caring for his mother. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: a well-groomed lawn, a clean house, and calls and visits with his family and friends.

Denny will be lovingly remembered by his surviving nieces and nephews: Jack Snyder (Doris), who was like a brother to Denny; Mickey Kuhl, Suzette Prichard, Donna McClain, Sandra Parker, Rick Blake, Randy Blake, Barbara Proper, Sharon Savage, Charlene Riggle, Debbie Fox, Kevin Snyder, David Barrett, Sharon Johnson, Brenda Gibson, George Snyder and Tammy McNemar; and two close great-nieces, Rebecca Schultz and Jessica Blake-Brown, and a host of other wonderful family and friends, including April and Raymond Riffle, who held a special place in Denny’s heart.

Denny was blessed throughout his life, and especially in his later years, with the love and devotion of Donna, Rick and April, fondly referred to as the Three Musketeers. They were at his side most days, providing his icy Sprite and sweets, and when they could not be there, Donna called to check on Denny to insure he had everything he needed. Her nightly Denny Updates kept family members informed of his condition; these meant so much to all of us. For these three precious souls, Denny’s family is most grateful.

The Snyder family is also grateful to the staff at Glenville Health & Rehab where Denny had special nurses and CNAs whom he loved. They would like to thank Lee Ellyson for his love and kindness in serving the family. Lee’s father would be so proud of the great work he continues to do for families. The Snyder family also extends special thanks to Pastor Bryan Groves for honoring Denny’s life with his words of celebration and comfort.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, W.Va. at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Friends will be received from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will follow in the K of P Cemetery in Burnsville.

Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., is honored to assist the family of Dennis M. Snyder with traditional burial arrangements.
