William J. “Willie” Dennison Sr., 62 of Salem, WV; formerly of Gilmer County, departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Salem Center Nursing Facility in Salem, WV; following an extended illness.
He was born January 20, 1962 in Sutton, WV; son of the late Junior and Betty (Parsons) Dennison.
Willie worked as a laborer and truck driver around Gilmer County and the surrounding areas for most of his working life. He may have been most well-known for driving a cement truck for several years. In his spare time, Willie enjoyed spending time outdoors, ATV riding, camping, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and he was a great cook.
On February 6, 1992 Willie was united in marriage to Melinda (Elbert) Dennison of Smithburg, WV; who survives.
Surviving are 6 children, Jamie and William Dennison of Glenville, Billy Joe Dennison and family of Troy, WV; Robbie Dennison and family of Sand Fork, Kim Dennison and family of Glenville, Ben Donaldson and family of Volga, WV and Stephanie Arbogast and family of Elkins, WV; 2 step-children, Nioka Ritter and family of Clarksburg, WV; and Sara Baker and family of Clarksville, TN; 14 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and 8 step-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are 4 siblings, Joann Pennington of Canton, OH; Kathy Miller of Massillon, OH; Randy Dennison of Glenville, and James Dennison of Canton, OH; 3 brother-in-laws, 3 sister-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents, Willie is preceded in death by numerous, aunts, uncles, and many other family members.
Willie’s request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of his life will be conducted at a later time where Chinese candles and balloons will be released. Family and friends are all welcome and his wife will notify everyone when that date and time will be.
His wife wants everyone to remember him in a happy, loving, fun time, each of us had with Willie. For Willie, would want us to keep moving one day at a time and remember always to love one another and make the best of each day, because there’s no guarantee for tomorrow, for tomorrow is not a promise, it’s a hope. Make the best of today and love one another.
