Renee Michelle Thomas, 70 of Long Shoal Run, Burnsville, WV; (Gilmer Co.) departed this earthly life in the mid-morning hours of Sunday, September 1, 2024 with her loving family by her side.
She was born July 29, 1954 in Cape May, NJ; daughter of the late Daniel and Francis (Pruitt) Simpson.
Renee was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. In her spare time, Renee enjoyed living the quiet life in West Virginia, reading, sewing, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.
On August 23, 1998 Renee was united in marriage to William T. Thomas who survives at their home on Long Shoal Run.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Jessica Johnson and husband Jerry Johnson Sr. of Tuckerton, NJ; and Cindy Oberle and husband Richard of Atco, NJ; and 2 siblings, Daniel Simpson of Cape May Courthouse, NJ; and Francis Shropshire of Charleston, WV.
Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Breanna Johnson and fiancée Michael Busza of Tuckerton, NJ; Eric Oberle Atco, NJ; and Jerry Johnson Jr. and fiancée Taylor Vanicsko of Burnsville, and 3 great-grandchildren, Hudson, and Weston Johnson, and Ryder who is due to arrive any day.
Along with her parents, Renee is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Paul Shropshire.
Renee’s request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of her life will be conducted at a later date.
