Mabel Lisette Wellings Talbott, 93 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life suddenly in the early afternoon hours of Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Glenville Health and Rehab Center in Glenville following a brief illness.
She was born July 9, 1931 in Doddridge Co., WV; daughter of the late Charles and Lisette (Cole) Wellings.
Mabel was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. She is a graduate of Doddridge County High School, class of 1949 where she was valedictorian of her class. She was a Golden Horseshoe recipient, attended classes at Glenville State College, and got her business degree in Pennsylvania.
Mabel is a member of the Glenville First Baptist Church, member of the Glenville CEO’s, a Christmas Tree Farmer, cattle farmer, and traveled with her husband Charles all across the United States for his job with the Department of Agriculture. In her spare time, Mabel enjoyed canning, cooking, gardening, camping, traveling the globe, and enjoying the family farm.
On November 23, 1951 Mabel was united in marriage to Charles Edward “Ed” Talbott, who preceded her in death on November 1, 2020.
Surviving is their daughter, Debra Cunningham and husband Fred of Glenville, 2 grandkids, Chad and Dustin Cunningham, 1 great-grandkid, Gabium Cunningham, and 1 brother, Charles Wellings Jr. and wife Barbara of West Union, WV.
Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, Mabel is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lucile Wellings, Fonda Simmons, and an infant brother, William F. Wellings.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Saturday, November 23, 2024 with Pastor Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery near Glenville. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Saturday at the mortuary in Glenville.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Point Pleasant Baptist Church, c/o Phyllis Ruppert, 82 Fallen Timber Road, Troy, WV; 26443 in honor of Mabel.
