Susan Mae Claypoole, 71 of Tanner, WV; formerly of Napier, WV; departed this earthly life suddenly in the evening hours of Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Minnie Hamilton Health Center in Grantsville.
She was born May 18, 1953 in Weston, WV; daughter of the late Herman and Virginia Ruth (Jones) McHenry.
Susan is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1971. She spent much of her working life as a home health provider in the Health Care industry and she was a Christian by faith. In her spare time, Susan enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crocheting, tending to her flowers and flower garden, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.
In 2011 Susan was united in marriage to Jimmy Dale Claypoole, who preceded her in death on September 6, 2024.
Surviving are 3 children, Ruth Paletti (John) of Florida, Billie Jo Clayton of Jane Lew, WV; and Steven Burkhammer of Weston, WV; and 1 sister, Rebecca Junkins (Chuck) of Tanner, WV.
Also surviving are several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, Susan is preceded in death by 7 siblings, Herman “Wayne” McHenry, Virginia Hardway, Mary Jane Clevenger, Marie Barto, Judith Ann McHenry, Bill Dean McHenry, and John David McHenry.
A celebration of life will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Wednesday, December 4, 2024 with Pastor George Jones officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon -1:00 PM; Wednesday at the mortuary in Glenville.
