Betty Jean Reed McCumbers, 81 of Glenville, departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Thursday, December 26, 2024 at the WVU United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV; following an extended illness.
She was born September 7, 1943 in Normantown, WV; daughter of the late Glen and Maxine (Harris) Kuhl.
Betty was a homemaker who loved caring for her family and the children of others in her family. She was known to babysit her nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were her own. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed playing games on her tablet, playing golf in her youth, tending to her flowers, and she is a member of the Dawson Baptist Church.
On December 24, 1960 Betty was united in marriage to her first husband Woodford Duane Reed, who preceded her in death on June 23, 2008. Betty married her second husband Chuck McCumbers on February 27, 2009, who survives at their home near Glenville.
Surviving are 2 siblings, Janice Miller of Normantown and Lanny Kuhl of Weston, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her parents (Glen and Maxine) and first husband Duane, Betty is preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Kuhl.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Tuesday, December 31, 2024 with Pastor Richard Westfall officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner Cemetery near Lockney, WV. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Tuesday at the mortuary in Glenville.
