Stephanie Shimer Montgomery, 71 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the Glenville Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
She was born July 4, 1953 in Charleston, WV; daughter of the late Herbert and Eva (Wilson) Shimer.
Stephanie is a graduate of Clay County High School, class of 1971. She is also a graduate of Glenville State College with a degree in education and received her Master’s degree from West Virginia University. She worked many years in the education field having worked for both the Gilmer County and Braxton County school systems.
As a teacher, Stephanie taught physical education and special education during her time in the school system and was a big supporter of the FFA, youth sports, and the students in general. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching WVU and Glenville State sports (especially football), spending time with family and friends, and caring for her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving son, Sean Hunt of Glenville, grandson Dakota A. Hunt of Martinsburg, WV; her sister, Stacey Catherwood of Florida, and her previous husband, Dr. Randy Hunt of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Stephanie’s request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of her life will be conducted at a later date.
