Harold Dwayne Riddle, 86 of the Grantsville, WV; area (Gilmer County) (formerly of Elyria, Ohio) departed this earthly life in the mid-morning hours of Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center in Grantsville, WV; following an extended illness.
He was born May 20, 1938 in the Tanner area of Gilmer County, WV; son of the late William A. “Bud” and Florence (Richards) Riddle.
Harold is a graduate of Tanner High School, class of 1959. He is a United States Army veteran, who served his country with honor and distinction. Harold worked as a laborer for the Ford Motor Company having retired with 35 years’ experience. In his spare time, Harold enjoyed spending time with family and friends, enjoying the quiet life in and around Gilmer County, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and especially farming.
In 1971 Harold was united in marriage to Helen Louise (Wiseman) Riddle, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2022.
Harold is survived by his loving sister, Bernice Tallhamer of Grantsville, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his wife and parents, Harold is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Alonzo Jr., Hoy and Harley Riddle.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Tuesday, March 18, 2025 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery near Tanner. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Tuesday at the mortuary in Glenville.
