Ronal James Burton, 85 of Cox’s Mills, WV; departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the Crestview Manor Health Care Center in Jane Lew, WV; following an extended illness.
He was born September 30, 1939 in Cox’s Mills, WV; son of the late Charles E. and Rema (Smith) Burton.
Ron is a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country with honor and distinction. He was a pipeline welder most of his working life and was the owner/operator of Ron’s Welding Service. In his spare time, Ron enjoyed playing softball, hunting, spending time with family and friends, and he was a Christian by faith.
On November 6, 1967 Ron was united in marriage to Suzetta Marie (Willis) Burton, who survives at their Cox’s Mills home.
Surviving is his loving son, James Stephen “Toby” Burton and wife Karen of Monroe, NC; 2 grandsons, Joshua Burton and wife Jessie of Glenville, WV; and Brian Burton and wife Brie of Cox’s Mills, and 2 brothers, Michael Burton of Cox’s Mills, and Waitman “Bud” Burton of Weston, WV.
Also surviving are 3 great-grandchildren, Rion, Ziyah and Lynlee Burton, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other wonderful family and friends, and a 4th great-grandchild due to arrive in July 2025.
Along with his parents, Ron is preceded in death by 4 siblings, Ruth Shobe, Jean Langford, Ann McCullough, and Charles Burton.
Ron’s request for Cremation has been honored and a private celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
