Jo Ann Jackson, 84, of Glenville, WV; formerly of Alum Bridge, WV; departed this earthly life in the late evening hours of Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Glenville Center Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
She was born March 3, 1941 in Walkersville, WV; daughter of the late Dorsey and Sovilla Hurst.
Jo is a former laborer in glass manufacturing and a Christian by faith. In her spare time, she enjoyed, writing poetry, drawing, cooking, especially during the holidays. Listening to music, collecting nick-nacks, working with flowers, with her favorites being, Lilacs and Gardenias, and she was an animal lover as well.
Surviving are 2 children, Richard Jackson (Tracy) of Weston, WV; and Patricia Ramsey (Donald) of Jane Lew, WV; and 2 siblings, Ronald Hurst (Tammy) of Alum Bridge, WV; and Lou Ann Jeffries (Robert) of Weston.
Also surviving is a grandson, Richard Eldon Paul Jackson of Weston, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her parents, (Dorsey and Sovilla), Jo is preceded in death by 5 siblings, Betty Hurst, Herman Hurst, Carol Cawthron, Mary Hurst, and Donald Hurst, and her former husband, Raymond Jackson.
Jo’s request for cremation has been honored and a private celebration of her life will be conducted at a later date.
