Diana Lynn Smith age 68 of Linn, West Virginia, (Ellis Road Community) departed this life and joined her heavenly father in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Wheeling General Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia following an extended illness.
She was born November 29, 1947 in Donegal Township, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Clyde E. and Dorothy Byers Wright.
Diana cooked goods in a bakery at Wal-Mart. She enjoyed taking trips to Gatlinburg, TN., collecting cardinals, butterflies and hummingbirds, gardening, and working with flowers. She was a graduate of McGuffey High School in Claysville, Pennsylvania, class of 1966. Diana loved spending time with family and friends, spoiling her grandchildren, and was a member of the Sand Fork Church of God of Prophecy.
On September 15, 1990 Diana was united in marriage to Dale Gene Smith Sr., who preceded her in death on Friday, September 26, 2014.
Surviving is 1 son, James Wright and wife Tina of Pennsylvania, 5 step-children, Kelly Jo Benn of Illinois, Donna Smith and Companion Jeff Nelson of Ohio, Dale “Boone” Smith Jr. and wife Vera of Ohio, Bobbie Andrews and husband Tellus of Ohio, Billie Gregory and husband David of Ohio, and 2 siblings, Ruby Verno of Claysville, PA, and Kenneth Wright and wife Sheryl of West Alexander, PA.
There are 13 grandchildren surviving, James Wright, Samuel Smith, Michael Benn, Matthew Smith, Alexis Nelson, Samantha Smith, Destiny Smith, Nikki Smith, Savannah Smith, Ryan Kidder, Tellus Andrews Jr., Haley Andrews, and Russell Gregory, step-granddaughter, Kayla Rush and 3 great-grandchildren, James Allen Wright, Ashton Smith, Eleigh Benn, and Anna Lynn Smith.
Along with her parents and husband, Diana was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Betty J. Ullom, Mabel E. Rice, and Ida L. Dorsey, and 1 infant sister, Dorothy Mae Wright.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Church of God of Prophecy in Sand Fork, West Virginia, at 3:00 PM., Thursday January 7, 2016 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery on Dusk Camp Run Road. Friends will be received from 2-3 PM at the Church in Sand Fork.
