Leamon Otto Turner age 90 of Normantown, WV; departed this life on the evening of Thursday March 30, 2017 at the Louis A. Johnson Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV; following an extended illness.
Born January 7, 1927 in Normantown, Leamon is the son of the late William Ezra and Nettie Cogar Turner.
Leamon worked in the Maintenance department of the Glenville State College for 15 years, retiring at age 59 in 1986. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. In his spare time, Leamon enjoyed hunting, 4 wheeling, and wood working. He was a member of the Lower Steer Run Baptist Church.
On March 14, 1953, Leamon was united in marriage to Margaret Ruth James Turner, who preceded him in death on October 21, 2001.
Surviving are 4 children, Sharon Hays and husband John of Weston, WV; David Turner and wife Connie of Normantown, WV; Brett Turner and wife Sonya of Good Hope, WV; and Shelia Davis and husband Jeff of Camden, WV; and 2 sisters, Wanda Duelly of Allentown, PA and Edith Vannoy of York, PA.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Hagaman and husband Bo of Lock Haven, PA; Michelle Cole and husband Mike of Weatogue, Connecticut, Michael Hays of Richmond, VA; Katelyn Hays of Weston, WV; Krista Ellyson and husband Josh of Bluefield, WV; Kara Holdren and husband Bobby of Summersville, WV; Justin Turner of North Carolina, Caleb Turner and wife Leslie of Wisconsin, Ryan Turner of Oak Hill, WV; Brooke Turner of Good Hope, WV; Thomas Davis and Jared Davis of Camden, WV; and 11 great-grandchildren, Rayne and Aden Forshey, Paula Davis, Evan and Kate Cole, Brady Ellyson, McKenzie and McKayla Holdren, and Bradley, Luke, and Emily Turner.
Along with his wife and parents, Leamon was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Lillian Harris, Goldie Stephens, Ethel Tanner, Eugene Turner, Rymer Turner, and Willard Turner.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Dr; Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Sunday April 2, 2017 with Pastor Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner Cemetery in Lockney, WV; where full military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard. Friends will be received from 12 noon- 1:00 PM; Sunday at the mortuary.
