Robert Jamieson “Bob” Mahan age 79 of Bull Fork Road, Tanner, WV; departed this life suddenly on the morning of Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his residence following a sudden illness. Born February 02, 1938 in Trenton, NJ; Robert is the son of the late Frederick and Florence O’Hara Mahan. Bob was a carpenter with 40 plus years experience. He retired in 1997 as a carpenter for the Broward County Parks and Recreation Department in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting antiques, and living the quiet life in West Virginia. On August 09, 1958, Bob was united in marriage to Lorraine Szczytkowski Mahan, who survives at their Bull Fork home. Surviving are 4 children, Debra Petro (Thomas) of Hamilton, NJ; Robert Mahan Jr. (Patricia) of Ewing, NJ; Jane Hixon (David) of Tipp City, OH; and Michael Mahan (Leah) of Oakland Park, FL, and 1 sister, Suzanne Walczak of Branchburg, NJ. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Christopher Mahan, Matthew Petro, Robert Mahan III, Dana Mahan, Casey Hixon, Erin Hixon, Lacey Mahan, and Brian Mahan, 1 great-grandchild, Austin Petro, and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Frederick and Harry Mahan, and 1 sister, Ruth Ridgway. Bob’s request for cremation has been honored and the family will have a Celebration of Life in New Jersey at a later date.
