Freda Herron age 98 of Turkey Fork Road near Sand Fork, WV; departed this life in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 28, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness.
Born July 26, 1918 in Gilmer County, Freda is the daughter of the late Alpha W. and Addie Wilfong McCullough.
Freda was a homemaker who loved to care for her family. She was an amazing cook who enjoyed gardening, sewing, and watching westerns and game shows on TV. Freda was a Christian by faith who loved attending church at the Church of God of Prophecy in Sand Fork and the Dusk Camp Baptist Church on Turkey Fork road.
On August 17, 1940 Freda was united in marriage to Ray B. Herron, who preceded her in death on August 2, 1996.
Surviving is 1 son, Ray Herron Jr. and wife Shirley of Sand Fork, WV; 3 grandchildren, Edward Conrad and wife Kim of Port Deposit, MD; Matthew Herron and girlfriend Janice Ratliff of Sand Fork, and Loretta Joswick and husband Chuck of Medina, OH; 2 great-grandchildren, Chaz and Austin Joswick of Medina, OH; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Freda was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorotha Conrad, 1 sister, Helen Collins, and 5 brothers, Fred, Calvin “Monk”, Leeman, Robert, and Leon “Bill” McCullough.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc; 2 Vanhorn Dr; Glenville, WV; 26351 at 11:00 AM; Thursday June 1, 2017 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Hiney Cemetery near Linn, WV. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM; Wednesday evening May 31 at the mortuary.
