Howard Lee Fischer Sr. age 82 of Tanner, WV ended his journey on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Cedar Grove Assisted Living facility near Parkersburg, WV following an extended illness. He was born September 4, 1934 in Baltimore, MD and is the son of the late Fredrick and Ethel Muhly Fischer.
Howard was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from April 26, 1954 to April 25, 1956. He held many titles including supervisor, volunteer Firefighter, Restaurant Owner, well tender, and carpenter to mention a few. However, his most important and favored title was husband and father.
Along with his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara McNally Fischer and his second wife, Geraldine Cunningham Fischer and 2 brothers, Fredrick and Charles Fischer.
Surviving are 5 children, Nancy Bowen and husband Ron of Parkersburg, Howard Fischer Jr. of Florida, Robert Fischer and wife Rhoda of Sand Fork, WV; Debbie Whitlatch and husband Carl of Erlanger, KY and Sheri White and husband David of Big Springs, WV; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are 2 siblings, Mary Nutter of Connellsville, PA and Joseph Fischer of Baltimore, MD.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM, Friday July 14, 2017 with Pastor Karen Kinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Shepherd Cemetery in Tanner, WV. Friends will be received from 11-1 Friday morning at the mortuary.
