Jerry Alfred Maxwell age 66 of Charleston, WV; departed this life in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston following an extended illness.
He was born February 23, 1953 in Grantsville, WV; son of the late Janis Maxwell Martin.
Jerry was a graduate of Lewis County High School, class of 1971 and a graduate of Glenville State College, Class of 1975. While at Glenville State, Jerry earned degrees in Marketing and Forestry and later in life he also earned an Electronics Degree from West Virginia State College.
Jerry has spent the last 20 years working for Diamond Electric Manufacturing in Eleanor, WV; and has spent a good portion of that time as a Quality Manager. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers and would regularly attend Football, Basketball, and Baseball games. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and spoiling his grandson, Logan whenever possible.
Jerry was a Pentecostal by faith and before his illness would attend services at the North Charleston Apolostic Church.
On July 12, 1975 Jerry was united in marriage to Barbara Townsend Maxwell, who survives at their Charleston Home.
Surviving is his loving daughter, Kayla Maxwell Bailey and husband Cameron of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and his wonderful grandson, Logan, also of Mt. Pleasant.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc; 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Saturday, March 16, 2019 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Friends will be received from 12 noon – 1:00 PM; Saturday at the mortuary in Glenville. Following funeral services, Jerry’s request for cremation will be honored and a dinner is being prepared at Sand Fork Town Hall. All are encouraged to attend and share in food and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Jobs Temple near Glenville in his honor.
